International conference ‘Security and cooperation in the XXI century’

The Russian Parliamentary European Club with the support of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) will hold an international conference /Security and Cooperation in the 21st Century’ (hereinafter – the conference) from September 25 to September 28, 2019 in Kaliningrad with the participation of deputies of the European Parliament, Russian parliamentarians and experts.

The event will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the landmark event for Europe and the whole world – the fall of the Berlin Wall (November 9, 1989) – which marked the end of the Cold War and a significant step towards establishing cooperation and universal security.

In addition, the event will be devoted to coincide one more anniversary – the fifth anniversary of the Festival Marathons “From the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean”, raising issues of cultural cooperation on the Eurasian mainland.

More than 100 young public figures, politicians and experts from European countries will take part in the conference, 70 of whom will go to the event in the framework of the New Generation program.

The goal is to increase the participation of young public figures in a serious discussion about the prospects for the development of security issues and cooperation in the Eurasian space.

Tasks:

- identification of talented young people;

- giving young leaders the opportunity to meet with prominent public figures and experts in the field of security and cooperation;

- in-depth development of universal leadership qualities, as well as skills of public speaking, presentations, discussion and negotiation;

- promoting the development of young people’s potential.

Program

Within the framework of the conference program, participants will exchange experience, knowledge and ideas of public initiatives in the field of security and cooperation, meet with well-known public figures, improve their competencies, develop universal leadership skills, learn effective methods of forming recommendations for interested departments, and acquire skills in public speaking and presentations. The conference program also includes a youth section to which young politicians, public figures and experts in the field of humanitarian, economic and military cooperation from European countries will be invited.

Following the conference, an official document will be prepared – recommendations of the participants of the event, which will be sent to the Russian Foreign Ministry, European embassies and other Russian interested departments.

Candidate Requirements

Young citizens aged between 25 and 35 are invited to participate.

Required qualities, knowledge and skills:

• knowledge of English at an advanced level;

• high motivation to participate in the conference on security and cooperation;

• experience of participation and / or organization of socially significant projects.

The working language of the conference is English.

Competition for participation in the conference

Those who would like to participate in the competitive selection are invited to fill in 2 forms – the questionnaire (.word), the questionnaire (.excel) and send it along with the photo to an email new-generation@rs.gov.ru.

The deadline for applications is August 25, 2019.

Participants go to the conference as part of the New Generation program, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 1394 of October 19, 2011 ‘On Approving the Concept of the Program for Short-Term Study Tours to the Russian Federation of young representatives of political, public, academic and business circles of foreign countries’.
